Before retirement, Leila Kulpas was a psychiatrist who specialized in treating adults with childhood trauma, using psychotherapy and minimal medications. She has an Honours, Class I BA degree in English for her original research on the influence of Virginia Wolf’s childhood trauma on her writing. She is the author of a memoir entitled, Into the Eyes of Hungry: Growing up in the Wilds of Australia, which was a finalist in the Book Excellence Awards for 2019. Her prose has appeared in The Vancouver Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Review of Books, and various newspapers, and her poetry has been published on the internet by Pandora’s Collective, in chapbooks edited by Patrick Lane, in seven journals and in eight anthologies.
